In sabre the maximum length of the grip is<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">17 cm (see<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Figures 8<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">,<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">9<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">and<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">13<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">).<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page327R_mcid12\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">2.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The grip must be able to pass through the same<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">gaug<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">e<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">as the guard. It must be so made<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">that normally it cannot injure either the user or his opponent.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page327R_mcid13\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">3.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">All types of grips are allowed providing that they conform to the regulations which have<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">been framed with a view to placing the various types of weapons on t<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">he same footing.<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">However, at \u00e9p\u00e9e, orthopedic grips, whether metal or not, may not be covered with<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">leather or any material which could hide wires or switches.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page327R_mcid14\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">4.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The grip must not include any device which assists the fencer to use it as a<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">throwing<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">weapon<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page327R_mcid15\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">5.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">grip must not include any device which can increase in any way the<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">protection<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">afforded to the hand or wrist of the fencer by the guard: a cross bar or electric socket<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">which extends beyond the edge of the guard is expressly forbidden.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page327R_mcid16\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">6.<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">If the grip (or glove<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">) includes any<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">device<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">or<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">attachment<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">or has a special shape<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">(orthopedic) which fixes the position of the hand on the grip, the grip must conform to the<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">following conditions.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page327R_mcid17\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">a)<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">It must determine and fix one position only for the hand on the grip.<\/span><\/span><span id=\"page327R_mcid18\" class=\"markedContent\"><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">b)<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">When the hand<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">occupies this one position on the grip, the extremity of the thumb<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">when completely extended must not be more than 2 cm from the inner surface of the<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">guard.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Spanish Offset \/ Cetrulo &nbsp; Modern Spanish &amp; Dos Santos &nbsp; American Belgian, TCA American, and Schemasport are included for comparison. &nbsp; Gardere &nbsp; Russian &amp; Rambeau &nbsp; USA Fencing Rules August 2020: m.41.
